EXPERIENCE
- Visit to Qorikancha Temple: This religious center, better known today as the “Temple of the Sun”, is a fine example of the extraordinary architecture created by the Incas.
- Sacsayhuaman: This imposing fortress built from massive stone blocks is a great example of Inca architecture. It is famous for its enormous, precisely carved blocks, some of which are 9 meters (30 feet) tall and weigh around 350 tons. This is the setting for the annual Inca Fiesta of the Sun, or “Inti Raymi”.
- Qenqo: Ceremonial and ritual center, an amphitheater where the Incas performed sacrifices.
- Puca-Pucara: This Inca structure served as a rest station and control point, guarding access to the imperial city of Cusco.
- Tambomachay: 7 kilometers from the city of Cusco, this ceremonial center was dedicated by the Incas to the worship of water.
