About the tour:
“Glamorous camping” -better known today as “glamping”- in the Peruvian Andes is a new trend in tourism: it’s camping, yes, but with a touch of luxury in the heart of the natural world! To meet this new demand for glamping, we have created one of the best vacation experiences for solo travelers, couples, families and groups of friends.
Just choose the best option for you, and spend three unforgettable days with us in Cusco and Machu Picchu!
GLAMPING: CUSCO – QUILLARUMIYOC – LAKE HUMANTAY – MACHU PICCHU
Are you an adventurous and free spirit? Are you someone who looks for unique experiences? This option is tailored to you! You’ll have the chance to ride a quad bike over the high Andean plains of Anta, visiting the largest system of Inca agricultural terraces in Peru. And you’ll experience glamping at Quillarumiyoc, the Inca Temple of the Moon, where you can enjoy a spiritual cleansing session.
The next day, we’ll visit picturesque Lake Humantay, before continuing our trip to Peru’s contribution to the Seven Wonders of the Modern World: Machu Picchu. Join us and take part in a trip that offers something not all travelers to Peru experience: the richly authentic living culture of the Andes. By traveling with us, you’ll also be contributing to the growth of the local economy, and to the future of highland communities.
Trip plan
During this tour, our route will take us through a natural landscape of flowing streams and the Inca agricultural terraces of Zurite, famous for being the largest in Peru, on our way to the ceremonial center of Quillarumiyoc. At this Inca Temple of the Moon, the remains of ceremonial structures can still be seen, including the crescent moon sculpted on a rock that gives this Inca site its Quechua name. From Quillarumiyoc, we will continue to Tarawasi, another important Inca ceremonial center, for a relaxing night spent glamping.
This experience for lovers of nature and travelers who enjoy challenging themselves requires an early start. At Lake Humantay, we’ll explore a number of high viewing points, from where you’ll be able to take some spectacular photos, relax, enjoy the scenery, and eat a nutritious snack. We will remain at this picturesque location for around one hour, early in the morning before other visitors arrive.
After a descent on foot of around one hour, we’ll board our vehicle for the one-hour drive to Mollepata, where we’ll have around thirty minutes for lunch, before continuing our drive as far as the village of Ollantaytambo. Here, we will take the 4:36 pm train, arriving at the Aguas Calientes station, below Machu Picchu, at around 6:00 pm. Here, we’ll settle in to our accommodation, and eat our evening meal.
We will have breakfast early at the hotel, tegether with our guide, before boarding a shuttle bus that will take us on the 30-minute drive up to Machu Picchu.
The excursion will begin with the guide explaining the significance of every corner of this Wonder of the World, visiting the Main Plaza, Temple of the Sun, Sacred Sundial, the Royal Chambers, the Temple of the Three Windows and the cemeteries. This tour will take around 2 hours, depending on the opening times of each of the temples. We will also have free time to take photos and explore the Inca city independently.
We will return by bus to the small town of Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time to eat lunch (not included in the price of the tour), and explore the town.
In the afternoon, you will take the train back to Cusco (you’ll need to be at the station 30 minutes before the departure time). Upon your arrival at Ollantaytambo train station, we will be waiting to take you to your selected hotel in Cusco (an approximately 90-minute drive).
